Xbox Q1 profits grow 6%

Microsoft’ Entertainment and Devices division has reported a $178 million profit for its Q1 for 2008-2009.

Income in the period, representing the three months to September 30th, was up 6.18 per cent for the division, which encompasses Microsoft’s Xbox, Microsoft Games Studios, Zune, Mac games and Games For Windows. The division turned a $167 million profit in its previous Q1.

However, revenues for the division dipped year on year, from $1.93 billion in Q1 2007-2008 to $1.8 billion this time round.

The overall Microsoft Group reported a nine per cent growth in year-on-year revenue at $15.06 billion. Its net profit for Q1 stood at $4.37 billion.
