Microsofts Xbox division posts Q3 profit

Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division has posted a healthy $89 million profit for its third quarter, ended March 31st.

Revenues for E&DD hit $1.58 billion for the quarter – a 68 per cent jump on the $935 million reported a year previously.

Operating profit income stood at $89 million – up from an operating loss of $324 million year-on-year.

The results show that the department is on track for a full year of profitability, as predicted by Robbie Bach.

Microsoft’s overall operating income for Q3 was $4.41 billion – down 11 per cent year-on-year from $6.6 billion.

Sales stood at $14.4 billion – slightly down on last year’s Q3 post of $14.45 billion.

The company added that sales of Windows for PCs declined 24 per cent.
