New team set to work on BioShock sequel, according to reports

2K forming new studio around ex-BioShock staffers

Take Two’s 2K publishing label is setting up a new studio based in Marin, near San Francisco to work on a sequel to BioShock.

According to some now altered job postings, "some of the creators of the award-winning ‘Bioshock’ are starting up a new studio in the Bay Area".

BioShock was developed by multi-site operation 2K Boston/2K Australia, formerly known as Irrational.

A report on notoriously anonymous industry blog Surfer Girl suggest a creative split has led to the formation of the new team on the other side of the US.

The rest of the 2K staffers that worked on BioShock are now reportedly working on a brand new title – which, if hints on 2K Boston’s jobs page (spotted by Shacknews) are anything to go by, will be powered using Epic’s Unreal Engine.
