[Industry news] Pacific Standard Creative Launches as New Division of Pacific Standard Sound, Merging World-Class Film, Television, and Video Game Capabilities

This is a press release posted in addition to our usual editorial content.

Pacific Standard Sound (PSS), the award-winning sound design and full service post production and sound company whose work spans some of entertainment’s most iconic properties, today announced the launch of Pacific Standard Creative (PSC), a new division purpose-built to serve the evolving storytelling and production needs of video game development studios, advertising agencies, trailer houses, and independent productions who demand world-class sound without compromise. Pacific Standard Creative will be helmed by industry veteran Eric Marks, who brings more than a decade of audio and engineering leadership, as well as two years as the Vice President of the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE).

Marks will serve alongside Pacific Standard Sound principals Craig Henighan and Will Files, both Oscar-nominated and multi-Emmy Award–winning sound artists who serve as founding partners. Marks will oversee all day-to-day operations, strategy, and client relationships, ensuring a focused, hands-on leadership model from day one.

“In games, sound is still the most underestimated storyteller in the room, and we see an opportunity to close the gap between the cutting-edge cinematic audio that Hollywood audiences expect, and the immersive, interactive experiences that players demand,” said Eric Marks, Founder of Pacific Standard Creative. “Today is the result of bringing together elite industry talent with a shared belief that sound can fundamentally transform how interactive stories are experienced, all in the name of delivering the kind of immersive, world-class sound that defines the player experience.”

Pacific Standard Creative offers access to a deep bench of elite sound designers, editors and mixers, and can scale teams up or down, depending on the demands of the production. PSC is also uniquely positioned to assume a co-development posture with game development partners, working in-engine to support implementation and technical sound design from first build to final delivery. This enables PSC to deliver a comprehensive suite of services, including sound design, editorial, dialogue, mixing, foley, implementation, and technical sound design, all within bespoke workflows tailored to the production and scope of each project.

“We’ve spent our careers pushing the boundaries of what sound can do for the art of storytelling in film and television, and it made perfect sense to partner with a veteran like Eric, and extend the vision for what Pacific Standard Sound can be,” said Craig Henighan and Will Files, PSS Founding Partners and Principals. “With Eric leading the charge and the incredible talent he’s bringing with him, we are excited to deliver something genuinely special for a broader group of creatives across the industry.”

At launch, PSC arrives with a talent pool that boasts a portfolio of work that spans AAA games, globally-recognised game franchises, major advertising campaigns, and award-winning cinematics — with credits recognised by The Game Awards, Music + Sound Awards, The Cinematic Awards, and the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE).
