Zynga acquires 4 Solitaire apps from Harpan LLC for $42.5m

Zynga has snapped up four Solitaire apps from two-man studio Harpan LLC for $42.5m in cash.

Harpan LLC is a company formed of Tim Oswald in Austin, Texas and William Oswald, his brother, based in Chicago. The company specialises in Solitaire apps, and App Annie puts their most popular title, Solitaire, near the top of the iOS download charts.

Solitaire is near the top of the iOS Download chart in the US, with App Annie putting it within the top 20 games overall.

The cash deal was finalised on February 14th, and SeekingAlpha noticed its brief mention in a SEC filing, ahead of a more thorough breakdown, which will come in Zynga’s first quarter financial reports.

Zynga posted a loss of $108m on revenues of $741.4m for the calendar year 2016, so could be hoping that this acquisition helps them nail down a stronger 2017 and beyond.
