Nintendo’s Fils-Aimé addresses Switch’s launch line-up

Reggie Fils-Aim, Nintendo’s US boss, has replied to concerns about Switch’s relatively weak relate slate.

Speaking to CNET, the exec said that the console’s launch on March 3rd is not the ‘be-all and end-all’, and that a steady line-up of releases is arguably more important.

On release, Switch only has five games in the UK and only one of those is a first-party exclusive, the admittedly rather fun 1-2-Switch.

That is joined by Zelda: Breath of the Wild – also launching on Wii U – and Super Bomberman R. Activision’s Skylanders Imaginators and Just Dance 2017, available already on other platforms, finish up the launch slate.

New first-party titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are set for launch during 2017. Fils-Aim also pointed out that the Wii U lacked this regular release of games.

"Launch day is not the be-all and the end-all," Fils-Aim told CNET.

"It really is the steady pacing of content that continually reinforces for the people who bought into the platform why they made a smart choice, as well as what compels people who might be sitting on the sidelines to jump in."

Fils-Aim’s argument here, the importance of a strong line-up post launch, is actually something MCV touched upon it our hands-on and preview about Switch.
