Finnish tech firm’s visibility solution also used in Quantum Break

Remedy’s next game will use Umbra

Umbra has secured a partnership with Remedy Entertainment that will see the studio use its tech in future games.

Remedy used Umbra’s visibility solution in this year’s time travel action game Quantum Break, and will now use the tool in its next titles.

Umbra’s tech ensures that only objects visible to the player are processed and rendered at any time to ensure optimal performance in terms of graphics and framerate.

Remedy also used Umbra to implement audio occlusion and fast audio propagation.

“Umbra made it easy for us to improve both the visuals and audio in Quantum Break, so continuing to work with their technology was a no-brainer. Umbra is simple to use and their team provide great support whenever needed”, said Remedy’s outsourcing manager Jani Savolainen.
