Organisational shift also sees Frostbite Engine team become part of publishers technology group

BioWare, Maxis and mobile teams grouped together as EA Worldwide Studios

Electronic Arts has made a few changes to the way its business is structured in order to bring some of its key studios closer together.

The publisher has announced the formation of EA Worldwide Studios, which will comprise of EA Mobile, Maxis and BioWare.

The central studios organisation will be led by Patrick Söderlund, with Samantha Ryan – leading the Mobile and Maxis teams – reporting into him. Ryan will also “take on leadership” of BioWare, working with Aaryn Flyn and the established team.

Meanwhile, the team behind the Frostbite Engine has been brought into the company’s Technology organisation, which is led by Ken Moss.

In a post explaining the changes, CEO Andrew Wilson said the new structure is “designed to strength our studios and technology platform” and “bring together our top creative talent in all of our great studios to work on EA’s powerful brand portfolio and new IP”.

He added: “Every day, I am inspired by our work, our achievements, and the opportunity in front of us to accomplish even more incredible things for Electronic Arts and for our players.”
