Terraria heading to 3DS, Wii U in early 2016

505 Games and Re-Logic have confirmed 3DS and Wii U versions of Terraria are in the works for release in early 2016.

Both editions will feature touch screen controls and multiplayer – the 3DS supporting up to four players through local WiFi, and the Wii U offering full online support for up to eight players as well as up to four player splitscreen with classic Wii Remotes.

Builds for both 3DS and Wii U are being shown this week as part of Nintendo’s gamescom booth.

In related news, Terraria Mac and Linux builds have apparently entered an open beta stage. The game is currently available on Windows PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Android and iOS platforms.
