Latest Metal Gear Solid V box art ditches Kojima’s name

Both the name of Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and the logo of his studio Kojima Productions have been dropped from the latest box art for Metal Gear Solid V.

These pack shots were uploaded yesterday, with eagle-eyed NeoGAF users spotting that the above details had been dropped

Given recent developments at Konami, and the apparently deteriorating relationship between the publisher and Kojima, this should not come as a surprise.

In March of this year, Kojima’s name was removed from artwork for Metal Gear Solid V amid an internal power struggle. This trend then took place on older entries in the series, too.And it seems that Kojima is leaving as soon as Metal Gear Solid V launches.

Konami explained that this was part of a ‘change in production organisation’, before Kojima’s horror collaboration with film maker Guillermo del Toro Silent Hills was cancelled, with the game’s demo PT being pulled from the PlayStation Store.

And then the Japanese voice of series protaganist Snake, Akio Otsuka, said that Kojima Productions is no more.
