Angry Birds dev Rovio joins #UpForSchool campaign

Rovio has teamed up with global education campaign A World At School to support its bid to ensure all children get an education.

The #UpForSchool petition calls on world leaders to invest in providing education for children around the world. It claims that 58 million children around the world are out of school because of child marriage, child labour, conflict and discrimination.

To support this, Rovio has launched a new tournament featuring six new levels in Angry Birds Friends encouraging players to sign the petition. The tournament is playable on Facebook and mobile from June 29th to July 5th.

The petition currently has six million signatures, and will be presented to the Education Summit hosted by the Norwegian Government in Oslo on July 7th.

“Our games have been downloaded more than three billion times. In some countries the game has been downloaded more times than the size of the population," said Peter Vesterbacka.

"With a tremendous global reach like this, we want to help by giving a voice to young people demanding an education. Everyone at Rovio believes change is possible and together we can deliver education for all. Together we can make change happen. We are #UpForSchool.”
