Bloodborne has sold 155k digital units worldwide, SuperData claims

PS4 exclusive Bloodborne is on track to become the most successful game in the Souls series to date, with digital sales accounting for over a tenth of its total.

While it’s not a Souls game by name, of course, it’s commonly accepted that Bloodborne sits resolutely within the Souls games of families, that have to date included PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls and multiplatform due Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2.

SuperData reports that Sony’s game has sold 155k digital copies worldwide to date. It has previously been reported that the game sold 1m units in its first few days.

With Dark Souls 2 selling 1.5m units on PS3 and Xbox 360 in its first month before its arrival on PC (although there will be sales of recent release Scholar of the First Sin to add to that), that puts Bloodborne in a strong position to claim the series’ crown.

After the release of the beautiful but terribly short game The Order: 1886 proved somewhat of a disappointment, the March release of Bloodborne has the makings of a hit for Sony,” SuperData CEO Joost van Dreunen said. The combined sell-through of over a million units just twelve days after release is a remarkable success.”

The overall US digital games market hit $1.01bn in March, up two per cent year-on-year. The F2P MMO market grew 9.6 per cent to $136m while digital console game sales grew 20 per cent to $84m. Battlefield Hardline was the big success with digital unit sales of 425k.

Digital mobile spending was slightly down, however, slipping -0.4 per cent. Social games fell ten per cent.
