PS4 smashes 1m sales barrier in France

1m PS4 consoles have now been sold in France, the firm has announced.

The milestone follows the UK and then Germany. UK shifted 1m PS4 units in September, followed by Germany in November.

PS4 sailed past 1m sales in France on December 17th, which makes the console the fastest-selling games machine of all time in that market.

PS4 is now No.1 in every territory in Europe (and indeed the world), although Xbox One remains competitive in UK and the US.

The demand for PS4 is still very strong since launch, even stronger than PlayStation 2, which was the best-selling console ever until the launch of PS4 and we’re thrilled with the response from gamers,” said SCE France MD Philippe Cardon.

From launch, our main focus has been making PS4 The Best Place to Play”, so we’re delighted that so many gamers have made it their system of choice. We’d like to thank them for their amazing support and feedback so far, and assure them that their PS4 experience will only get better in the months and years to come.”
