PS4 will undercut Xbox One in China, reports claim

Reports in the Chinese media suggest that PS4 will launch at a lower price than Xbox One.

Kotaku reports that various Chinese outlets reckon that Sony will launch the console at CNY 2,999 (310). The base Xbox One costs CNY 3,699 (382) while the Kinect version costs CNY 4,299 (444).

Sony is expected to reveal a release date for the machine in China this month, with 50 games apparently being prepped for launch – although fears remain that, as with Xbox One, many of these titles may take some time to make it to market and won’t arrive alongside the hardware.

Xbox One is said to have enjoyed a strong launch in China, although pre-release data suggested that interest in PS4 in the region was higher.

The PS4 has to date undercut Xbox One at launch in every single territory in which the pair have released, although some fierce pricing wars in territories such as the UK have more or less drawn the machines parallel.

Both have been widely available at or around 300 this Black Friday weekend in the UK, for instance, and you can expect more of the same in the run-up to Christmas.

Xbox One launched at 429 and PS4 at 349 in the UK.
