Razer eSports documentary coming soon

The first episode of a documentary following professional eSports players is set for release this Saturday.

‘Team Razer: Great Games’ is a three-part documentary following members of Team Razer, and focusing on three big pro-gaming titles – StarCraft II, Dota 2 and League of Legends.

A new episode of the film, which is being directed by Smash Bros documentary creator Travis ‘Samox’ Beauchamp, will land every subsequent Saturday at 2pm – that’s December 6th followed by December 13th.

MCV will be hosting all three of the half-hour episodes, so make sure to check back at 2pm this Saturday, November 29th for part one.

The first installment of Great Games will examine the beginnings of contemporary eSports, focusing on the formative moments of Blizzard’s seminal RTS StarCraft: Brood War, with well-known eSports figures such as Jaedong and Flash, before moving onto StarCraft II and the emergence of eSports star HerO.

The following two episodes will focus on the world of Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games, providing insight into the rise of Dota 2 and League of Legends.

The documentary features interviews with stars from teams including Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses.

"eSports is a phenomenon that so many people are still unaware of, and I want to change that,” said Beauchamp of the upcoming film.

Athletes from different cultures pursue their passion with these games, with millions of people watching, each player driven by a desire to be the best of the best.

Illuminating the lives of these StarCraft, Dota 2 and League of Legends champions will help eSports novices to understand that ambitious gaming is not only a hobby, but a serious sport."
