Microsoft shipped 2.4m Xbox consoles last quarter

Microsoft shipped 2.4m consoles to retail during the three months ending September 30th.

It is not clear though how many of those were sold to consumers. A breakdown of Xbox One and Xbox 360 sales was also not specified.

Microsoft’s Devices and Consumer revenue overall grew 47 per cent to $10.96 billion. Xbox group revenue increased by 58 per cent year-on-year.

Sales have been buoyed by the launch of the Xbox One in new countries during the last quarter. Microsoft also released the console in China last month, reportedly selling as many as 100,000 units during its first week on sale. Exact specifics on Xbox One sales have not yet been provided by Microsoft.

Since August however, Sony’s rival console the PS4 has sold more than ten million units.
