Multiplayer tools added to Google Play Games

Google has expanded its Play services to add more multiplayer functionalities to their mobile games.

The update to Google Play Games includes the "ability for players to find each other nearby in multiplayer games", with the aim of enabling more local competitive and cooperative games.

The service previously only supported online multiplayer, according to Gamasutra.

The Google Play Games service is designed to help developers create mobile games for bother Android and iOS devices, as well as browser games.
