Mulitple positions to be eliminated at Lord of the Rings Online studio

Layoffs imminent at Turbine

Several Turbine employees will soon be made redundant as parent Warner Bros restructures the studio to match the changes in the market.

The developer, best known for MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online, is currently working on DC Comics-themed MOBA Infinite Crisis, and is due to have its workforce downsized, according to Joystiq.

There’s no word on how many jobs will be lost or which positions will be culled.

"As part of our normal business process, we’re routinely looking at the strategic alignment of our company," a Warner Bros rep said.

"Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions. These are always tough decisions, which we don’t approach lightly, but it’s crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace."
