World of Warcraft subscriptions shoot up by over 600,000 ahead of Warlords of Draenor

It seems that World of Warcraft is regaining some of its previously lost users ahead of its next big expansion.

Blizzard announced during its latest earnings calls that its MMO had seen subscriptions jump by over 600,000 ahead of the release of World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor on November 13th.

The publisher had previously predicted that Warlords of Draenor would lead to a resurgence in numbers, with 1.5 million copies of the expansion pre-ordered at the time.

However, the recent spike hasn’t been enough to counter the 800,000 losses seen during the quarter ending June 30th.

The number of players paying for the near decade-old title now sits at roughly 7.4 million.
