CEO to continue in leadership role despite increasing pressure

Nintendo re-elects Iwata as president

Poorly Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has retained his role as president, IGN reports.

The executive has come under increased pressure in recent years following poor sales of Wii U, and for miscalculating demand for 3DS. Nintendo posted its first ever financial loss under his leadership, and several more since. As a result, his approval rating had dipped to below 80 per cent last year.

Of course at the same time Nintendo reached its highest ever point under his leadership, too, with the success of Wii and DS.

He’s currently recovering from an operation on his bile duct which saw him miss both the firm’s Annual General Meeting and E3.
