Yoshida says development team needs more time to improve visuals and overall game experience

Sony confirms DriveClub delay for PS4

Evolution Studios’ PS4 exclusive racing title Driveclub has officially been delayed, Sony has confirmed.

SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said the team needed more time to “deliver on their vision”.

He added Sony realised the news would disappoint consumers, but hoped the extra time would allow the developer to improve the visuals and overall game experience.

“SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of DriveClub and DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014. DriveClub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision – and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.”

The news comes shortly after Ubisoft announced it would be delaying its highly anticipated current and next-gen title Watch Dogs into next year. The open world game had been expected to release on November 22nd and alongside the Xbox One and PS4.

Ubisoft has also delayed its own racing title, The Crew, into next year.
