Thousands of titles vanish from Microsoft's storefront

Games disappear from Xbox Live

Games began disappearing from the Xbox Live marketplace this morning in what Microsoft has confirmed is a technical error that the company is trying to fix.

Over a thousand titles were affected by the glitch, most of them indie games, including Minecraft, Castle Crashers, Battleblock Theater, and Castle Miner Z.

Milkstone Studios posted on Twitter that the Xbox Live Indie Games catalog dropped to just 949 titles – less than half its usual listing – in only a few minutes.

That number has since fallen to 592.

Xbox Live Arcade was similarly affected, with only 89 games available on the storefront at time of writing.

"We’re aware there is an issue affecting the Xbox Games Store that has temporarily removed some content including Xbox Live Arcade and Xbox Live Indie Games titles," said a Microsoft spokesperson.

“This is a technical glitch and we’re working to fix the issue as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience."
