Ouya devs reveal software sales numbers

A trio of devs behind some of the more recognisable games on Ouya have revealed their sales figures.

TowerFall is arguably Ouya’s most recognised and acclaimed exclusive game to date (although it is relieving itself of its exclusive shackles). But creator Matt Thorson told Edge that it has to date sold only 2,000 copies at $15 a pop, totalling $30,000.

NimbleBit, meanwhile, has attracted 6,508 downloads but has only converted 122 of these into purchases resulting in $427 profit. Twin stick shooter Red has sold just below 400” copies.

TowerFall’s Thorson is upbeat about the numbers, however.

Sales have been surprisingly high for a new game on a new console,” he stated. The response has been amazing. A lot of high profile people in games have been praising the game, which is of course fantastic, and there’s been a lot of talk among gamers as well. Launching on Ouya got me a lot of attention, and the sales have been better than expected.”
