Ubisoft accounts breached, users advised to change password

Ubisoft accounts have been compromised by hackers, prompting the firm to issue a warning to account holders.

The publisher said hackers were able to gain unauthorised access to account information stored within its online systems.

Users are advised to change all of their login information, particularly on other sites where they have used the same password.

"We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorised access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems," read the released statement.

Compromised data included user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords.

However, Ubisoft stressed that no payment information was accessed.

"Please note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion."

Ubisoft has addressed the issue on its official forum, providing an FAQ to reassure affected users.
