Asda’s Locke joins Amazon as games boss

Asda Direct’s trading director Frazer Locke has joined Amazon as its new head of games.

According to sources close to the retailer, Locke is taking the role previously held by Amazon veteran Graham Chambers, who left the firm in September last year.

Chambers had spent five years at Amazon before leaving for a role at Dundee-based mobile firm, Tag Games.

Locke’s 20-year career in retail has included stints at Dixons, Comet, and Toys R Us, mostly involved in the video games category. He then joined Gamestation in 2007 as online commercial manager and was promoted a year later to head of Gamestation Direct and third party buying.

He has spent the last 18 months working as Asda’s online trading director, and before that was head of online for Asda’s music, video, games and books division.

Other roles in retail included stints at the Arcadia Group and ScrewFix.

He leaves Asda this week, and will join Amazon ‘later in the year’.
