Valve fires hardware engineer Jeri Ellsworth

Valve has fired hardware engineer Jeri Ellsworth with immediate effect.

Taking to Twitter, Ellsworth appeared surprised by the decision, but no reason was given for her exit.

“Wow. I suddenly have a lot of spare time,” she said. “Yup. Got fired today. Time for new exciting projects.”

Ellsworth had been at Valve since August 2011, working on research and development of next-gen gaming devices such as prototype controllers for the company’s upcoming Steam Box in an effort make Steam games more fun to play in the living room.

As well as working at Valve, she has worked at a number of other companies in the past as electrical engineer including Ubicom, NewTek, Xilient, Realtime Associates and Mammoth Toys.
