Web-based PlayStation Store launched

You can now browse the PlayStation Store and buy content without turning on your PlayStation console.

Sony has today launched a web-based version of the PlayStation Store that can be accessed via the PC browser.

Unlike its Xbox 360 counterpart, items bought and purchased via the web-based store don’t automatically begin downloading when you switch on your console, but have to be manually started via the Account Management section.

Strangely, the Indian store doesn’t seem to be functional just yet even though the option is available via the drop-down menu on the homepage. It just throws up a "Site Not Available" error.

We’ve contacted Sony to find out when the Indian store will be accessible.
