Tim Schaaff to step down as Sony NEI boss

Sony Network Entertainment International president Tim Schaaff is stepping down at the end of the year.

SCE head Andrew House will assume responsibility for Schaaff’s role while existing SNEI executive staff will manage operations.

Schaaff will remain on the SNEI board as executive director.

SNEI manages all of Sony’s online platforms, including the PlayStation Network.

The news follows Sony reporting declining sales in game hardware and software, while revenues overall increase.

The company has cut losses by $150 million year-over-year.

Schaaff came to the company from Apple six years ago, tasked with unifying Sony’s online platforms.

House is a 20-year Sony veteran who has played important roles in every one of the company’s console launches.

He took the role of SCE CEO last year when Kazuo Hirai moved upstairs to head Sony Corp.
