Premium service pulls in more than 2m subscribers

Call of Duty Elite boasts over 12m registered users

Over 12 million customers have now registered to Call of Duty Elite, Activision told investors during today’s earnings call.

Of this, 2.3m players have signed up the the premium subscription service.

Paid-for accounts offers players advanced statistics tracking and premium DLC content.

Though some have criticised Activision for the service in the past, consumers flocked to the service in such numbers that server capacity had to be increased at November’s launch.

The news comes just after the publisher announced the final DLC package for Modern Warfare 3, which will mark the end of the current subscription DLC season.

COD: Black Ops 2 is expected to hit shelves in November.
