Windows 8 launching October 26

Microsoft has announced an official release date for Windows 8.

The latest OS from the software company will arrive on October 26th, Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky announced at its annual sales meeting earlier today as well as on the Windows blog.

The new operating system will be integrated with Microsoft’s Surface tablet, as well offer a suite of new features for Windows Phone and Xbox owners.

Current users of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99.
