Xbox co-creator backing $99 hackable console

A new $99 hackable android-based console is being designed by US start-up company Ouya.

As reported by The Verge, the project, backed Xbox co-creator Ed Fries, the new platform is said to be able to connect to a user’s TV.

Any developer will reportedly be able to publish their games, whilst all titles on the console will be free-to-play.

The hardware has been “built to be hacked”, and every user will receive a development kit.

Other backers on the project include Jawbone Jambox designer Yves Behar, BP of business development at IGN Julie Uhrman and Amol Sarva, founder of mobile tech firm Peek.
