Company of Heroes 2 officially announced

THQ has officially announced Company of Heroes 2, confirming that Relic Entertainment is actively working on the warfare strategy sequel.

The PC title was revealed a few days ago by a leaked cover from an upcoming issue of PC Gamer.

Relic will utilize their own Essence 3.0 engine to develop the game. As reported, CoH2 focuses on the eastern front of World War 2. Players will take control of the Red Army to fight off Nazi invaders; with dynamic battle tactics, new commander abilities, and environmental destruction featured.

"Company of Heroes 2 is a true successor, introducing a new front, new protagonists and new technology while retaining the unique mix of strategic gameplay and competitive multiplayer that made the original Company of Heroes such a success," Relic producer Greg Wilson stated in the announcement.

Company of Heroes 2 is slated for early 2013.
