PEGI games age ratings ‘months away’

The much-delayed implementation of the PEGI age rating system will be enacted by July, according to games trade organisation UKIE.

Four years since The Byron Review recommended a unified age rating system, and about three years after PEGI was elected as the organisation to provide games age ratings, the measure has been marred by repeated delays.

Now UKIE says it has the resources to focus on pushing the PEGI system through.

“Our next major campaign launches this summer to promote PEGI and to demystify video games to parents,” UKIE CEO Dr. Jo Twist told MCV.

“This campaign will launch when PEGI is finally implemented. PEGI is indeed progressing and the latest estimated implementation date is this July.”
