U4ia working on first-person social game to work 'synchronously' across PC, Mac and mobile

Activision vets raise $5m for new digital studio

A new digital studio set up by two former Activision verterans has raised $5.6 million in funding from undisclosed partners, it has been revealed.

As reported by Geekwire, U4iA has now amassed approximately $7 million in financing since the studio was formed last year.

The Washington-based developer was founded by ex-Activision publishing head Dusty Welch and former exec producer Chris Archer.

The studio is to focus on the development of online, free-to-play titles, with its first game to be a freemium hardcore first-person social game, to be available “synchronously and asynchronously” through PC, Mac and mobile devices.

“We are designing a game that can appeal to more of a core, sticky, engaged audience, but do it in a very disruptive and social manner, so that any platform, any distribution, any technology that a consumer is looking for, we are providing a deep connected experience for them,” said Welch.
