Metal Gear series surpasses 31 million sold

Konami has revealed impressive lifetime sales numbers for Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear series.

Standing currently at a solid 25 years and counting, the franchise has sold over 31m units as of December 31st of last year.

Titles range from the original Metal Gear that hit back in 1987 all the way up to the recently launched Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the 360, PS3, and Vita.

The announcement arrives in conjunction with Kojima’s talk for the Art of Video Games Exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum this past weekend in Washington, DC.
