Android title Dead Trigger goes free due to heavy piracy

Madfinger has announced a price removal for its mobile title Dead Trigger, due to what the developer describes as ‘unbelievably high’ piracy rates on Android devices.

The title was released at the end of June for $0.99, with in-app purchases available to support the game as well.

A month later and the developer has come out to share that piracy of the game has driven the company to make a change.

The main reason: piracy rate on Android devices, that was unbelievably high, stated Madfinger on the game’s Facebook page. At first we intend to make this game available for as many people as possible – that’s why it was for as little as buck. – It was much less than $8 for Shadowgun, but on the other hand we didn’t dare to provide it for free, since we hadn’t got XP with free-to-play format so far. However, even for one buck, the piracy rate is soooo giant, that we finally decided to provide Dead Trigger for free.
