Beyond Good & Evil 2 appears to be in pre production

Beyond Good & Evil creator Michel Ancel has seemingly confirmed that a sequel is in development.

After weeks of posting images related to the Beyond Good & Evil series to his Instagram with little more than cryptic messages, Ancel posted another image, this time of a Rastafarian rhino, with a caption confirming a game is in development.

Endangered species – now saved – Game in pre-production – Stay tuned !” read the caption.

This presumably means that Ubisoft has finally allowed him to start work on Beyond Good & Evil 2, the much requested sequel to the 2003 cult classic. While this will be good news for many fans of the series it does mean that the game is still a long way off, and seems to dismiss rumours that it would be a launch title for Nintendo’s upcoming NX console.

It is also worth noting that over the years multiple materials, such as concept art like this, have been released to tease Beyond Good & Evil 2. While this is the closest to a real confirmation we have ever had there is still no official confirmation from Ubisoft that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is real.
