100m downloads and counting for Mac App Store

Over 100 million apps have been downloaded from the Mac App Store since its launch in January earlier this year.

The milestone for the Mac store comes after the huge success of the App Store for iOS, which currently has more than 500,000 uploaded apps and has seen more than 18 billion downloads.

Apple also claims the App Store continues to generate one billion downloads per month.

In just three years the App Store changed how people get mobile apps, and now the Mac App Store is changing the traditional PC software industry,” said Apple’s senior VP of worldwide marketing Philip Schiller.

With more than 100 million downloads in less than a year, the Mac App Store is the largest and fastest growing PC software store in the world.”
