$10bn+ spent on the Apple App Store in 2013

Apple has revealed that over $10bn was spent on its App Store throughout 2013.

December was a record breaking month for the service, in which spend passed $1bn and nearly three billion apps were downloaded.

We’d like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store,” said Apple’s senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue. The line-up of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014.”

The App Store now offers over one million apps in 155 countries. Over half of these are also available in native iPad form.
