2K Sports cancels MLB 2K series

Three strikes! Is that a suitable baseball analogy? Sorry we’re British and don’t really understand…

Regardless, 2K Sports has confirmed that it has dropped its MLB 2K baseball series. MLB 2K13, which was panned by critics, will stand as the final release in the series.

"[We have] decided not to renew our MLB 2K series for 2014,” the publisher told Joystiq. We are very proud of the achievements made by the MLB 2K team and look forward to their contributions to our future titles.”

The move also means that there will be no further baseball releases on any Xbox platforms, with the only established baseball series now being Sony’s MLB. MLB 14 is due out on PS4, PS3 and Vita in the spring.
