31 EA titles sell more than a million

EA has stated that 31 of its titles sold more than a million copies in the last 12 months – an improvement on the 27 1m+ sellers the firm published in 2007. Furthermore, three titles sold over 5m copies each – FIFA 09, Need for Speed Undercover and Madden NFL 09.

Further success came from Will Wright’s ambitious universe sim Spore, which has now sold over 2m units, generating over 100m user created creatures in the process.

There was also good news on the Wii front – a notoriously tough battleground for third party publishers to navigate. 14 per cent of EA’s total revenue came from the Wii, an improvement on the eight per cent in the year before.

2009 looks to be even better for EA’s Wii endeavours, too, with big-hitters such as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Tiger Woods 10, EA Sports Active and Grand Slam Tennis all promising big things.
