3DS game sales up 45% in 2013

Nintendo has revealed that combined eShop and retail sales of 3DS games hit 16m units in 2013.

That represents a year-on-year increase of 45 per cent, Polygon reports.

Furthermore, the combined lifetimes unit sales of 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS have now hit 11.5m in the US.

"Nintendo 3DS is a powerhouse with games and experiences that appeal to all kinds of players," Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt said.

"We’re not slowing down in 2014. With more games featuring fan-favourite franchises on the way, the best days of Nintendo 3DS are still to come."
