Activision introduces Wappy Dog

There’s something to be said for diversity. Activision, the house of Call of Duty, has announced a brand new and somewhat adventurous IP – Wappy Dog.

Developed by Sega Toys, Wappy Dog is actually a robotic toy that communicates with an owner’s DS. It marks Activision’s second foray into the toy sector following the announcement of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure in February.

Wappy himself is animatronic and can move and communicate with its owner. Players will be able to communicate with their dog through their DS or, if out and about, they can do virtually using only their handheld.

Activities include caring for the animal and playing mini-games with it. Plenty of customisation options will also be available. Wappy’s personalities, skills and happiness evolves according the interaction with the player.

"We were excited about Wappy Dog from the moment we saw it," Activision Publishing’s David Oxford stated. "This one-of-a-kind toy and video game combines a strong emotional bond and exciting virtual experience with the interaction of a physical pet. Wappy Dog is a truly innovative next generation toy and video game that gives kids an instant companion."

Wappy Dog is due out some time ‘this holiday season’.
