Activision says Call of Duty is best-selling PS4 game in US

Call of Duty: Ghosts has been the best selling retail” game for PS4 in the US since launch, Activision has claimed.

"Call of Duty: Ghosts is the No. 1 best-selling game on PS4 in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart," CEO Eric Hirshberg stated, adding that the game is also the most ordered Xbox One title ahead of the console’s global release tomorrow.

"We couldn’t be more excited about the consumer response as we look forward to this Friday’s release of Xbox One. As we’ve said before, it’s a great time to be a gamer, and a great time for Call of Duty fans."

It seems that the data refers specifically to the four retailers mentioned, but as some of the largest chains in the country it’s probably safe to assume that the numbers are indicative of overall national trends.

Walmart’s VP of entertainment Chris Nagelson added: "The momentum for this title on next-gen is incredible. We know fans across the country will be heading to Walmart this weekend to pick up their Xbox One edition, and on Black Friday to bring home Call of Duty: Ghosts. We expect Ghosts to be one of the most in-demand Christmas gifts of this year."

EA yesterday claimed that one in three games sold for Sony’s platform in the US to date have come from its library of launch titles.
