Amazon offers day one $0.99 deal

As anyone who uses games forums will tell you, getting a game on day one still remains hugely important to a large part of the core games userbase – something that clearly hasn’t escaped the attentions of online retailer Amazon.

Gamasutra reports that the US arm of Amazon is now offering guaranteed day one delivery on a number of video game pre-orders, such as next week’s Halo Reach, for just $0.99.

Other games covered by the deal include Call of Duty: Black Ops, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Seeing as online is more often than not the cheaper option on day one, the site no doubt hopes to win over many who still put their trust in the High Street when buying games on their day of release.

The UK arm of Amazon still offers free ‘super saver’ delivery on many of its titles, though this does not come with a day one delivery guarantee.
