Argos: Xbox Pro discontinued

The online portal of UK retailer Argos is claiming that the Xbox 360 Pro is no longer available – substantiating MCV’s claims from earlier today that Microsoft is preparing to terminate the SKU to facilitate its Xbox 360 Elite price cut.

Eurogamer spotted that those heading to the Argos listing for the Xbox 360 Pro, or Xbox 360 60GB as the retailer calls it, are now greeted with a message that reads: We are very sorry but Microsoft have discontinued this line.”

The claim backs up the information hinted to MCV from a key trade source – that Microsoft is just days away from announcing a significant Xbox hardware price cut.

Indications point to a cancellation of the Xbox 360 Pro SKU and a 60 price drop to the top-end Xbox 360 Elite SKU, with the black console then replacing the Pro in Microsoft’s product line.
