Bandai Namco is making the Pixels mobile game

Upcoming movie Pixel will be joined by an associated mobile game from Bandai Namco.

The free-to-play title takes the Sony Pictures Entertainment film and turns it into a tower defence title. Notably it will, like the movie, star characters from across the publisher spectrum including Pac-Man, Frogger and Q*bert.

"With the Pixels mobile game, our goal is to capture the spirit of the movie and provide a new take on the popular tower defence genre of games,” Pac-Man producer Ben Acevedo said.

We have worked hard to reference some of the great action set pieces from the movie casting players in the role of the movie’s heroes, the Arcaders.”

Bandai Namco’s GM and VP of product development Jeferson Valadares added: "With a hilarious cast and an incredible roster of legendary gaming icons to play with, Pixels has all the makings of a breakout hit."

"Pixels is a celebration of some of the most beloved names we grew up with, and we’re ecstatic to deliver an experience that’s just as enjoyable on mobile devices as it is on the big screen."

The first trailer for Pixels, which will star Adam Sandler and Peter Dinklage, was released last month.
