3DS can be used as a controller for Smash Bros on Wii U

Those with early access to the 3DS build of Super Smash Bros have spotted some extra functionality not previously revealed by Nintendo.

GameSpot reports that owners of Nintendo’s 3DS handheld will be able to use the device as a controller when playing the game on Wii U via a wireless connection.

Gamers will of course also have the option of using a GameCube controller via the recently announced adapter for Wii U.

It was already known that the 3DS can be used to transfer custom-created fighters between the portable and home console versions of the game.
