3DS Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire remakes out this year

Nintendo and The Pokmon Company have announced two new Pokmon games will launch this Christmas.

Pokmon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will arrive in November for 3DS. They are both remakes of the 2003 Game Boy Advance games – Pokmon Ruby and Sapphire.

Nintendo has been annualizing its Pokmon series in recent years. Pokmon Heart Gold and Soul Silver released in 2010, Black & White arrived in 2011, Black & White 2 showed up in 2012 and X & Y launched last year.

The launch is a timely one and would capitalize on the strong sales of last year’s X & Y, which has already sold an impressive 12.26m units worldwide. It was Nintendo’s best-selling game last year.

The most recent Pokmon remake –Heart Gold and Soul Silver – went on to sell 12.72m copies on Nintendo DS.
