AUSTRALIA: 3DS takes handheld crown

The 3DS has achieved the best launch sales for a handheld console in Australia, with 31,000 units sold within its first week on sale.

Nintendo’s new console almost beat week-one sales of the Wii, which sold 32,000 units in Australia during its first week. These figures are from Nintendo and its retail partners, reports VG247.

In the UK the 3DS sold 113,000 units within its first weekend on sale, and 303,000 across Europe. This represents the company’s most successful hardware launch in the UK to date.

It was previously announced that UK pre-orders stood at around 140,000.
